![]() For $10 per month, users can take advantage of the Premium package, which offers 1000GB of storage. This is a clever guerrilla marketing scheme, but still cuts free users out of some of the higher tech features that Bitcasa has to offer. With enough referrals, 20GB of space can be awarded. Free users can refer their friends to get more space. One who is familiar with their storage methods, which consist of storing one copy of identical files, might wonder how that is accomplished without identical encryptions of the same files being used, which would be a file security nightmare.įor free customers, Bitcasa offers 5GB of data storage. According to Bitcasa, as files are uploaded, they are encrypted before reaching their servers. Upload speeds are also quick, accomplishing 1GB in approximately 40 minutes. This option, along with the ability to right click a file and “mirror” it the drive, are handy and fast. Bitcasa does allow easy “drag and drop” file upload, however. There is no online editing of documents, so edits would have to be accomplished by downloading the file to a device with proper editing options, then re-uploading the edited document to the drive after edits are complete. Paid users have the option to password protect links for added security.īitcasa falls short in the areas of folder organization and maintaining shared folders with friends. Sharing files with others is accomplished by secure link sharing. Bitcasa allows accessing documents with up to 5 devices, which is tricky for those who want to use their service for anything more than personal use. ![]() Cross-platform issues are no longer a worry. ![]() These apps allow you to upload any file of any type and be able to access it and use it on any device. Bitcasa has also developed a Google Chrome plug-in, used for streaming and accessing files. Enhanced support and HD streaming for paid accounts are other nice features, but the company still manages to fall short in other areas that are, arguably, more important.Īccessing your data with Bitcasa Online Storage is easy using their iOS, Android, Windows and Mac apps. Easy link sharing and access from any device shore up some of the concerns that buyers have, but don’t quite offset the price tag. Bitcasa is a relatively new player in the cloud storage world being founded in 2011. This helps smooth out my acceleration curve as otherwise with some of my heavier loads I'd start losing velocity after they're spent if I fired all 12 at once on launch.īut seriously though, I'm only doing the above because that rocket is designed for interplanetary missions, and thus lifting extremely heavy loads into orbit. The last 4 then decouple once done, by which point, the liquid fuel in my first stage is almost done. On the one I used for that most recent mission (which I call the Saturn VII), 8 of them fire off on launch, and when they're spent, they fall off and the remaining 4 fire. If you take a look at the staging in some of my screenshots, you'll see they're all attached with radial decouplers. Well, that's because the boosters on my ship are actually boosters and not just solid rockets strapped to the side :) Two, during flight they sometimes break off and go tearing through the upper stages, destroying the rocket. One, before launch the solid boosters often just fall off the ship. I do build (and use) rockets on that scale but I tend to run into two problems. FlowerChild, I'd be interested to hear any tips you may have on keeping that rocket of yours stable. Here's a screenshot for clarity (this is a rocket I built to put a Rockomax tank into keocentric orbit for later refueling): Still, I wonder if that may be affecting the stability of the ship. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be able to do that but it does work. Any reason you think that might be happening?ĮDIT: I should maybe add that I'm using the regular-sized decouplers on these stages since I haven't unlocked the Rockomax decoupler yet. I can (somewhat) deal with the problem by heavily strutting the ship (I'm talking somewhere around 100-200 struts total on the lower stage, to hold the center tank to the outer tanks and then the boosters to the outer tanks), but even then it just seems to randomly fall apart, usually before launch. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Disintegration Loops sounds initially like a short track of music being played over and over again. “The sustains sort of fell away, and yet somehow the core of it stayed – the attack and the basic rhythm of the melody – hanging on desperately until the very end” (Basinski in Friedlander 2012). “I sat there watching the recorder, monitoring it as this thing over the length of a CD-R completely disintegrated in the most profoundly beautiful way,” Basinski describes. Indeed Basinski did not intend to create the effect of the distortion instead, it was created by the machine whose initial purpose was to preserve the original composition. Rather than lament the destruction of his recordings, Basinski chose to let them continue to disintegrate further, the result being an extended series of loops whose sonic structure breaks down successively with each cycle. In the summer of 2001, while converting his old, analog tapes into a digital format, composer William Basinski discovered that his compositions were literally turning to dust in the machine. The Disintegration Loops : From A Brooklyn Rooftop to a Museum Crypt (Pierre Nora, “Between Memory and History: les Lieux de Mémoire.”) Record as much as you can, something will remain. Traumatic Ruins and The Archeology of Sound: William Basinski’s The Disintegration Loops Traumatic Ruins and The Archeology of Sound: William Basinski’s The Disintegration Loops. In this paper I will discuss the significance of Basinski’s work to aural and material memory and explore the concepts of ruins and dust to arrive at one of hospitality’s most startling and uncanny figures, a figure of autoimmunity that is powerfully raised in Basinski’s work, making it one of the most compelling pieces of art in the Museum. It initiates, I argue, a philosophy of hospitality that is, defined in this context, uniquely preoccupied with ideas of strangers, belonging, home, and homelessness and an ethics concerned with “das Unheimliche” or something odd that is not quite at home yet nonetheless present in that space. I want to suggest that, while existing as a differentiated work in its own right, it is through its in-situ role – a ruin in a place of ruins – that The Disintegration Loops recalls one of the most complex and contradictory paradigms for thinking about loss and for mourning alongside strangers. Additionally, this work also carries within itself far more: layers of meaning and spectral traces that are often missed during singular visits by museum guests and that recall aspects of memory and materiality crucial to the question of what it means to live alongside others. Located in the Museum’s Historical Exhibition, and evocative of death, mourning, and haunting, William Basinski’s sound and video installation, The Disintegration Loops, offers a fitting yet unique elegy to the loss of the towers and nearly 3,000 innocent people. Yet, one installation in particular manages to do just that. The September 11 Memorial and Museum may not appear, at first, to signal the ways in which sound might usher in a new way of thinking about the philosophically complex concept of hospitality nor the promises of decay. There is one site in particular that seems to speak so poignantly to the complex workings of trauma, ruin, and memory, and it is the use of sound in this place that I wish to draw attention to here. Work is both fresh and decades old, mirroring the overall effect of listening, with time and space seeming to melt away into mesmerising tones. This paper traces the relationship between art and atrocity, materiality and decay, and the aural possibilities of hospitality in a time of terror. Song For Joni, a brand new full-length, is a spellbinding and beautiful trip into the blissful places we rarely get to visit, ambience that surrounds, then lulls, then hones in. What's really important is that we're here now, with 222 - a return to the solo spotlight for the exalted artist in question. Maybe it's the instrumental guitar duo Gabby & Lopez with his buddy Masayuki Ishii, or improvisational concerts performed alongside Daiho Soga. Medical complications of fillers include nodules or granulomas (immune-mediated reactions to filler), allergic reactions, infection, pain or tenderness of the treated areas, and vascular occlusion. These may require correction either with more filler or filler dissolver. There may be some downtime required after dermal fillers as a result.Īesthetically, the risks involve lumps, asymmetries, over and under-treatment. The general risks or side effects when injecting the face include bleeding, bruising, and swelling. Dermal fillers effectively improve facial volume loss in areas such as the cheeks.Īs with all cosmetic procedures, there are risks involved. Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, also naturally found in the skin. When administered by an experienced cosmetic doctor or practitioner, dermal fillers can effectively replenish lost volume in the face without looking unnatural or puffy. You can read more details about dermal fillers here. The local anaesthetic will partially numb the dermal filler injection site, helping you experience the least discomfort possible. Many cheek fillers are blended with a local anaesthetic that will significantly reduce any amount of pain during your cheek enhancement treatment. You can read more about our blunt cannula technique here. The dermal cheek fillers are then injected from the same injection point without needing to make another puncture site. ![]() The blunt tip of the cannula is passed through an entry point made by a needle. Our highly trained and experienced cosmetic doctors and cosmetic nurses prefer to use blunt micro-cannula techniques. You should plan to give yourself some recovery time afterwards, as there may be some swelling or bruising after getting cheek fillers. We recommend getting filler slightly higher up in the cheeks to support the lower eyelid, lift the cheekbones, and help create facial symmetry. Our doctors use a technology called Accuvein to visualise and map your veins to minimise bruising. A fine, blunt-tipped micro-cannula is usually the best option because it reduces the risks of disrupting a blood vessel. When you receive the treatment, it will be administered using either a needle or a cannula, and a local anaesthetic will be used to numb the site. As there may be some swelling or bruising after cheek fillers, it is important to plan some downtime after treatment. Having a consultation will determine your suitability for the treatment. Provide structural support for the lower eyelid. The size of your cheeks in relation to the rest of the face. The shape and proportions of your cheeks in relation to the rest of the face.In summary, using dermal fillers in the cheeks can help enhance the following: Cheek filler can help balance pre-existing asymmetry to a certain degree. Most people will also naturally have some asymmetry of the cheeks. ![]() Cheek filler can support the ligaments around the lower eyelid that may sag with time. Mid-cheek filler can also support the lower eyelid to help reduce the appearance of tear troughs or ‘eye bags’. Cheek filler can help to correct this by adding volume to this area. For example, the maxilla (the bone that forms the upper jaw) may be underdeveloped, leading to a flatter mid-face and disproportion of the mid-face with the rest of the face. As skin sags with ageing, replacement of cheek volume using dermal fillers can help to lift this sag.įor the younger population, there may be volume deficiencies in the cheek that are not due to ageing. Dermal filler injections can replace the volume in the cheeks, help to regain youthful facial proportions and rejuvenate the face. As cheeks lose volume with ageing, the face may become less proportionate and balanced. Pietro and his twin sister, Wanda, were raised by Django and Marya Maximoff, a Romani couple.
